Land with Lagoon

Palena, Los Lagos, Chile

Property Description

In Palena, the Andean culture is breathed piece by piece. Land of mates, horses and gauchos, it also has a rich natural heritage, whose symbol is the crystalline and mighty Palena River, navigable from this town to its mouth at the sea in Raúl Marín Balmaceda. Its name was given by Nicolás Mascardi, the first Jesuit explorer who arrived in the area, who found similarities with his native town in Italy.

In 1911 it began to receive the first Chilean settlers who had already settled some years before in Argentina and now returned to Chile to develop livestock activities near the border of the Río Encuentro and Valle California. The transit from one country to another has always been frequent in this area, forming a cultural braid that manifests itself every year in the Binational Meeting of Traditions.

Today it is an unmissable destination with a varied offer of rural, adventure and nature tourism.
